SO MUCH EASIER on a 4 shaft loom!

1. Raise all the pattern threads (shafts 3 & 4).
2. Pick up the charted threads and insert a stick.
3. Leave stick in place. Lower pattern threads and raise shaft 2.
4. Pass the weft with belt shuttle.
    Remove Stick.
5. Raise shafts 1 & 3 and beat.
(Note: Do not pass the weft, beat only)

--From here you basically repeat from step 1 except raising shaft 1.

6. Raise all the pattern threads (shafts 3 & 4)
7. Pick up the charted threads and insert a stick.
8. Leave stick in place. Lower pattern threads and raise shaft 1.
9. Pass the weft with belt shuttle.
    Remove stick.
Change shed to shafts 2 & 4 and beat.
(Note: Do not pass the weft, beat only).

Tips:
To make it easier to keep track of the shafts to raise:
Have the odd numbered shafts tied to the treadles on the left.
Have the even numbered shafts tied to the treadles on the right.
When the shuttle is on the left, you know to raise the odd numbered shafts.
When the shuttle is on the right, you know to raise the even numbered shafts.

Shafts 1 & 3 and then 2 & 4 will produce plain weave with all threads.
